The Bebe Vio Academy is Coming to Venice

The event was inaugurated at Polisportiva Terraglio, featuring six Paralympic sports for children with and without disabilities

“My dream has always been to come home.” And Bebe Vio has now made that dream a reality with her Academy. The Bebe Vio Academy (BVA) was recently inaugurated at Polisportiva Terraglio, the place where Bebe Vio took her first steps into the world of Paralympic sports after her illness.

Following the success achieved at its locations in Milan and Rome, the program is thus expanding a network that has already involved more than 320 young athletes since its inception.

Sponsored in partnership with Nike and organized and managed by the art4sport Foundation, the BVA was created with the goal of making physical activity accessible to everyone by breaking down physical and cultural barriers through the power of teamwork.

The opening of the new facility at Polisportiva Terraglio—a center of excellence for promoting inclusive sports at the regional and national levels—was made possible thanks to the dedication of two long-standing figures at the art4sport Foundation, Elena Pinton and Claudio Pavanello, and enjoys the full support of the CIP’s Veneto Regional Committee, led by President Davide Giorgi, who previously served as president of Polisportiva Terraglio itself.

Designed for girls, boys, and teens between the ages of 6 and 18—whether they have physical disabilities or not—the Bebe Vio Academy offers the opportunity to train side by side in a welcoming and inspiring environment.

Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at six different Paralympic sports on a rotating basis:

  • Wheelchair Fencing
  • Paralympic Track and Field
  • Sitting Volleyball
  • Wheelchair basketball
  • Para-karate
  • Swimming

Participation is completely free for all families. Practices will be held twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and will follow the school calendar through the end of May.

"A dream come true"

“Bringing the Bebe Vio Academy to Venice is a dream come true and an incredible feeling,” said Beatrice “Bebe” Vio Grandis. “Polisportiva Terraglio is where I started playing sports again after my illness, where I realized just how much physical activity and sharing can change your life. Knowing that now, right there, so many children and teens—with and without disabilities—will be able to train together for free is wonderful. Our goal of growing this big family continues with even more energy.”

This enthusiasm is shared by Teresa Grandis, president of the art4sport Foundation: “Opening our Venice office is a milestone for our Foundation. Being able to count on such a passionate local team, on the support of CIP Veneto, and to offer a completely free program gives us the confidence that this venture will have a profound impact on the local community.”

How to Participate

Registration for the Bebe Vio Academy season in Venice is officially open. Interested families can register their children by filling out the online form available on the official channels of the art4sport Foundation and the Bebe Vio Academy.
